Time to SPLURG for Spring

So my 18th birthday is approaching fast and I decided it was time for me to give a birthday gift to myself. So can you guess what I bought. . . that's right I bought makeup. I was scrolling through the MAC website and I picked up a few items. However a few items at MAC costs a pretty penny, but hey I'm worth a splurge. So if you have been feeling down, why not splurge on some fancy cosmetics. New cosmetics makes everyone happy. So in order to help you make some bad decisions for your wallet like me, here is a list of items I deem splurge worthy.

Time to SPLURG

 Face

Looking to spend too much money on some face powders well look no further Hour Glass makes amazingly luxurious powders. The Ambient Lighting Powders come in six different shades for all of your highlighting and skin needs. You can use these powders all of the face for some natural radiance or in concentrated areas for a little bit more glow. You can naturally sparkle by picking up these powders for 45 buckaroos at select Sephora locations and on their website.

Spring is approaching, though in Brooklyn it seems like eons away, March and April is coming no matter how much snow and ice is on the ground. Why not brighten your outlook on the stormy weather by putting some flower inspired makeup on your pores. MACS Mineralize Skin Finish in Perfect Topping from their new Fantasy of Flowers collection will make everything seem a little bit more sunny. Just sweep on your cheeks and instantly feel like daisies. Well, it might not make everything feel daisies but at least you will look as fresh as daisies. You can pick up this powder for 30 ducks at your local MAC counter or on the website (like I did).

Has your complexion looking a little bit dull or spotty well then it is time to treat yourself to some amazonian clay goodness. Buff on a little bit of Tarte's Amazonian Clay Airbrush loose foundation. This powder gives you medium coverage with a claim of 12 hour wear, that feels light and natural on the skin. The product comes in 11 shades, so hopefully everyone can find their perfect match. You can get our airbrushed look for 36 dollars at Sephora.

Tired of eye makeup and foundation but, you just want to get that flushed glow, then its time for endless cream blush choices. The Balms new cream blush palette will perk up your cheeks, and the packaging is so cute; apples and shirtless guys. Six colors for $32, well thats seems more like a deal than a splurge. You can get The Balm products and their How 'Bout Them Apples palette on their website thebalm.com

Not looking for a whole blush palette, more of a singles gal, well then go pick up Clinque's new spring collection of flower inspired blushes. The Cheek pop blushes give you beautiful spring inspired colors without being to harsh or gaudy. This is an effortless blush that doesn't need precise application. Throw this little flower in your purse and don't worry about streaks or that clown look that bright blush can give. These retail of 21 dollars at Sephora.com.

In the winter I tend to sleep constantly, but if you aren't an all day cat nap kind of girl then you might need something to cover those under eye circles. Conceal your dark circles using a creamy peachy under eye concealer from Pixi. Never looked tired ever again, if you can't get a good nights sleep, well then fake it. You can get Pixi products at Target but it is always on offer on Hautelook.com. So go get this little miracle makeup pot for 12 dollars. *** most affordable product!

Eyes
Tired of your run of the mill black or brown gel liner, then go and get yourself a champagne colored gel to brighten up your eyes after long cold winter nights. Go splurge on MAC's Fluidline in Chilled, which is white gold color. Put this on your lower or top lash line for subtle sparkle and definition. Or, put it in your inner corner to brighten up any eye look. You can get Chilled at any MAC counter or on their website for 16 smack-a-roos.

Not a fan of gel liner? Thats fine, brushes can be annoying and difficult to use. That's why felt tip liners are the lazy girls best friend, no sharpening and easy application. Stilla's Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner is the liner challenged best friend. With a super fine tip you can build up your intensity slowly without having a steady hand. Another plus, if you get tired of black these bad boys come in a variety of bold and bright colors (15). Go get this at Sephora or on offer at Hautelook.com for $20.

Lips

Want to spice your lip life? Get bold long lasting color from Lime Crimes Velvetines. These are lip-stains that dry matte and last forever. They come in a variety of bold and unique colors. Pick up Suedberry for a bright wearable red with pink undertones. This color will brighten up your face and pretty much looks good on every complexion. Afraid of wearing bold reds, then this is a great color to ease you in. Get this tube at limecrime.com for 20 bucks.

Bite Beauty has just about the cleverest name for a lipstick company, and these products pack a punch in very bite sized tubes. Your getting your moneys worth with these lipsticks, they are pigmented and smooth. Bite Beauty's Luminous Creme Lipsticks come in a million shades, 25 shades to be exact. You can get reds, nudes and berries for 24 well spent dollars at Sephora. Just be careful you don't feel like biting anyone well wearing them (even love bites).

Fragrance

It's always nice to smell good, so why not smell like sultry floral amazingness. I have had a mini Viktor & Rolf Flower Bomb perfume and I am obsessed. I was given the miniature bottle as a gift and I use it very sparingly. The fragrance has notes of sambac jasmine, centifolia rose, cattleya orchid, ballerina freesia, and patchouli. You can get the 1 oz bottle for 80 big ones at Sephora and other fragrance retailers. Honestly you spray this and you feel like your in a field filled with fairies and elves.

So that is my splurge list, go out and splurge or just stock the Sephora website like I do if you don't have the funds. Remember splurging on nice products should be saved for a rainy day when you feel sad, because new cosmetics makes everyone feel better.

Battle of the BB Creams

You might have guessed because of the title but I will be comparing two different BB Creams. Not American BB Creams but Korean BB Creams. Korean BB Creams are the real deal when it comes to light weight natural coverage foundations. BB stands for Beauty Balm because the products have added benefits in skin care that really foundations don't have. A lot of people think that BB Creams are glorified tinted moisturizers. They honestly are not Korean BB Creams have light to medium coverage and really can be used a foundation I chose to use my BB Creams any day over my Covergirl Outlast.

Revlon Brow Fantasy Review (rave)

I pretty much use all types of makeup products and it wasn't until a few months ago that I started to fill in my brows. For a while I tried different shadows but they were too light or some shadows were too dark. Everything made my brows just look fake and too thick. I tried pencils but I couldn't get light enough strokes for it to look seamless. However my sister purchased the Revlon Brow Fantasy pencil/gel duo but never really used it. She left it at home when she went off to collage and I tried it out.  And to my surprise it was a really good and so easy to use.

School has started I no longer have 30 minutes to leisurely my makeup anymore. I know, sad faces all around. Taking my time, and doing my makeup is so relaxing for me. Just to sit down at my desk, pay attention to my face, and apply products is very cathartic. But, when I am rushing to get to school I need quick makeup fixes to get me out of the door. So here is my quick and easy eye look, it should take you just a few minutes to do, and the best part NO brushes needed!

Blogging Schedule For Fall

Hi guys so lately I haven't been blogging as much because school has started. I am in my senior year and things are getting kind of crazy, with collage applications, standardized testing, and just plain ole homework. So now I have created a schedule for myself to keep me on track and blogging. You will see a new post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. They could range from reviews, product comparisons, or just face of the days. I will limit myself to M/W/F posts only being able to have one face of the day. That way I don't just post my current makeup looks, and I have a better variety. Do expect that I will try to do face of the day on Tuesday but that isn't a promise.

Heres a preview of what I have in the works

  • Fall Lip looks/ my favorite fall lipsticks (drugstore only Wet n Wild, Revlon and Maybelline)
  • Dark Bold Lips nude simple eye with step by step photo tutorial
  • Brown, bronze, golden, and champagne fall eyes tutorial (drugstore only)
  • Small drugstore eye palette reviews (Covergirl, Maybelline)
  • Revlon Brow Fantasy Dual Sided Stick (pencil and gel) review and tutorial with step by step photos.
  • Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding review
  • Miss Jessie's Baby Butter Cream review
I have a lot of stuff lined up and I am trying to create really good content this month. So hopefuly most of these ideas will come to fruition.

Coastal Scents Hot Pots Neutral Palette

Coastal Scents Hot Pots

Coastal Scents Hot Pots are creamy, smooth and so pigmented. But, the best part is they are so affordable. I have purchase a few and I am looking to pick up a few more. So I planned out my perfect Neutral Palette. Almost twice the amount of Shadows in the Urban Decay Naked Palette for a few dollars less.

Mattes

  • Pale Nude
  • Chamois nude
  • Kokomo Cafe*
  • Olivewood
  • Deep Roast*
  • Incognito
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Burnished Brunette
  • Barista*
  • New Terrian*
  • Profound plum
  • Wild Rasin
Shimmers/satins
  • Amber Bronze*
  • Copper Glaze
  • Caramel Ice*
  • Vanilla Sky*
  • Dark Goldenrod
  • Chocolate berry
  • Karat gold
  • Mai tai
  • Light bronze*
  • kodiak
Coastal Scents make quality eye shadows at a really affordable price. If you have always wanted MAC palettes but didn't want to pay 200 dollars Coastal Scents is a great option. The color selection is outstanding, and the formulas are great. Each of the shadows have a magnetized pan, so no magnet sticker needed. Coastal Scents also sell affordable fill-able palettes. The palettes aren't the most durable, but are good for a beginner. I would suggest if you want a really nice quality palette purchasing one from Z palette. Coastal Scents is always having sales, I purchased by Hot Pots for 95 cents instead of 1.95. Just check a few times a week and especially around the holiday season. Shipping was really easy, my shadows came wrapped in bubble wrap, and were  incased in hard plastic. Overall I definitely want to expand my Hot Pot collection.

EOS

EOS

I have purchased many a EOS lip balms and well I'm not too empressed. I know that people love EOS balms but I think it is all packaging and no formula. The little eggs are so cute, and I love using them. But, the actual product isn't very impressive. It feels very thick and waxy on the lips, it just doesn't really moisturize them. The balm feels nice on the lips when first applied but when it wears off your lips aren't any different. If anything they feel a little dry and I feel the need to reapply. Thus the cycle of dry lips continues. It is so unfortunate that EOS has a lack luster formula because the scents, flavors, and packaging are so amazing. The brand keeps coming out with new scents and they keep getting more and more enticing. The formula however stays the same, waxy and suckish.  What do you think? Do you love EOS lip balms, does the formula work for you?

August Beauty Favorites

August Favorites

August has come and gone, and September is here. I can't believe that summer is over, it went by so fast. School is just days away, and I'm still in summer mode. In New York it is still hot, and of coarse muggy. I have tried a lot of new products this month so my favorites list, is quite long.

NYX Blush: Dusty Rose

Mac Mineralize Skin Finish: Soft N Gentle

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil: MIlk

Coastal Scents Hot Pot: Kokomo Cafe

Revlon Color Stay Foundation: Buff

EcoTools Blush Brush

Forever21 Love Roller Ball perfume

L'oreal MagicLumi Pen

Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding

Basically I have been using all of these products together. This is my current face routine.

I put a little bit of color stay foundation on, and then correct my under eye area with the Magiclumi pen. I dust on some NYX blush, and highlight my cheek bones with Soft N Gentle. I also put Soft N Gentle on my lids, and inner corners. I take a little of Kokomo cafe and blend it in my crease and fill my eyebrows. I use milk on my brow bone for a subtle high light.

Miss Jessie's Sample Pots

Curly Pudding, Rapid Recovery Treatment, Curly Meringue

In my search for the best curly hair product of all time, I hauled some sample sizes of Miss Jessie's products. I got two hair styling balms, the Curly Pudding (left) and the Curly Meringue (right). I also purchased a small jar of the Rapid Recovery Treatment (middle). A full size Miss Jessie's product costs about 20 to 30 dollars so I wanted to try out a few before I bought the full size. The little sample jars range from 7 to 9 dollars. Three sample jars costs about the same amount as one full size product.

Curly Pudding

Rapid Repair Treatment
Curly Meringue
Each of the small sample jars contains 2 oz worth of product. Depending on how much hair you have, the jars worth could last you a few weeks. When I have thoroughly used and tried each of the products I will do a full review of all of them. You can find Miss Jessie's at Ricky's NYC and Target.

NYX The Curve Liner (review)

I was recently given a gift and it was the NYX The Curve Liner. The Curve Liner is your average liquid liner but, hold on it has a HUGE handle. The thing that sets this liner apart from other liners is the special handle. The Curve liner is designed to make application easier by giving you a steady hand and grip.

Slurge or Save? Moroccan Argan Hair Oil

Hair oil is really popular/on tend, especially argan moroccan oil. I have always used hair oil, because I have very dry curly hair. I need intense and conditioning hydration so hair oil is a great fix. I like to rotate between argan oil and olive oil because I find that my hair builds up a tolerance when I use just one type of oil for too long. I have been trying out different hair oils and the two that stand out are the Agadir Argan Oil and the Garnier Fructis Moroccan Sleek Oil. I purchased both of these oils at the drugstore, but the Agadir oil is a pretty expensive drugstore product. Agadir Argan Oil retails of 20 dollars while the Garnier oil cost $6.
